International motocross competition kicks-off 53rd Araw ng Lanao del Norte
TUBOD, Lanao del Norte, June 26 -- A daily average of 5,000 spectators came to the Enersel Forte Philippines International Motocross Series at the Mindanao Civic Center (MCC) race track last June 22 to 24, here in Tubod, Lanao del Norte, as the official kick-off event for the 53rd Charter Day celebration of Lanao del Norte.
This year marks the first leg of the Gov. Mohammad Khalid Q. Dimaporo International Motocross Battle, which solidifies Lanao del Norte’s grip on the title as the Motocross Capital of the Philippines.
Governor Dimaporo welcomed 320 motocross riders from all over the country, as well as the four international riders from the American Motocross Association – Daniel Blair, Sean Kranyak, Dennis Stapleton, and Tiger Lacy.
Top Australian freestyle rider Bradley Burch was also part of the group who visited the capital town of Tubod to showcase his jumps and stunts.
The races between top racing teams like Therasil SEL-J, KTM Access Plus, Team Pacquaio, Moto-X Davao, and local standout Team SND (Sultan Naga Dimaporo) were among the most anticipated by the crowd and motocross enthusiasts.
Riders competed in various categories, such as Beginner Production, Intermediate, 50 cc, 65cc, 85cc, Novice Open Production, Ladies, Underbone Novice, Underbone Open, Local Enduro, Executive A, Veterans, Pro Lites, Pro Open, and International Pro.
“Lanao del Norte definitely has the best race track in the country and we are happy to bring the 4th leg of the Motocross Series here in this beautiful province,” SEL-J Sports President Jay Lacnit expressed.
The race was supported by Nature’s Spring, Dunkin Donuts, Pepsi Cola Philippines Co. Inc., San Miguel Brewery Inc., Petronas Lubricants, Globe, and Motortrade.
The Araw ng Lanao del Norte is celebrated every year by the provincial government with a two-week series of concerts and competitions.
