Local exec urges public to support good governance campaign

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Misamis Oriental, June 13 (PIA) -- A local official from Misamis Oriental called on the public to rally behind the Aquino leadership, and to help the government in its fight for economic freedom.

“Today, we are called upon to help our government battle against this new form of domination,” Vice-Governor Norris Casiño Babiera said in his speech yesterday, during the 114th Independence Day Rites.

He said our war against poverty has remained our greatest enemy.

Babiera also noted that this year’s Independence Day theme “Kalayaan: Pananagutan ng Bayan para sa Tuwid na Daan (Freedom: Accountability of a Sovereign Nation of Responsible Citizenry)," reminds us of our commitment to freedom.

“We are tasked by our forefathers to carry on the fight, that is, to genuinely liberate the Filipino nation from hunger and poverty,” he added.

“Today, as we celebrate our nation’s 114th year of independence, we will be witnessing the beginning of transformation of our vision with a strong commitment to rise above decades of ‘Calamitous Indifference’ unmindful and destructive ways of life. Together, let us support the president’s call for good governance and put service to the people above self,” Babiera stated. (PIA 10)
