City gov’t turns-over 300 new houses
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, June 8 (PIA) -- Not less than 300 newly completed houses in the Calaanan Relocation Site were formally turned over to the beneficiary families during the House and Lot Awarding Ceremony today, June 8, at the Calaanan covered court.
Mayor Vicente Y. Emano, along with members of the city council, barangay captains, and department heads of city hall, and guests consisted of Leonila Escalada, chief operating officer of Habitat for Humanity Philippines; Efren Uy of the Filipino-Chinese Community; Engr. Jose Gatus of the Oro Habitat; and Regional Director Atty. Araceli Solamillo of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, witnessed the event.
The mayor reiterated his assurance that not a single cent shall be asked from the beneficiaries as these houses and lots are all free for the Sendong survivors, and without regard of political affiliation or leaning.
The series of turnovers of completed houses in the Indahag and Calaanan Relocation Sites are the result of the city government’s determination in ensuring all survivors in their own new permanent homes by August of this year. (CIO/PIA10)
