TUBOD, Lanao del Norte, May 25 (PIA) -- Sixty-three elementary schools in this progressive province received building materials from the provincial local government unit for the ongoing implementation of Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela program.

Among the construction supplies received were roofing materials, plywood, concrete and wood nails, roof sealant, paint, paint brushes, paint rollers and trays, and door knobs.

The building materials were personally delivered by personnel from the Provincial Community Affairs Office (PCAO), and were given to each school principal during a simple turn-over ceremony.

“This year, Governor Dimaporo is focusing on the education sector. Despite the meager resources, Governor Khalid wanted to improve the learning environment for our students which is why we are delivering these materials to our public schools,” explained PCAO Head Lyndon Calica.

The provincial government also hopes that through the assistance, parents and school administrators do not have to raise money to purchase the construction materials and instead use their limited resources to improve the school performance of students.

Among the towns that will receive building materials from the provincial government are Lala, Kapatagan, Baroy, Kolambugan, Bacolod, Maigo, Linamaon, Kauswagan, and the capitol town of Tubod.

The Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela aims to encourage the public to join its campaign to clean public schools' classrooms and other facilities in preparation for the school opening this coming June 4.

Also known as the National Schools Maintenance Week, the week-long clean-up drive is participated by parents, members of the Armed Forces, police officers, and even some civic organizations.

“Our school got 20 pieces of plywood, doorknobs, hinges, nails, paint and paint brushes. We are indeed thankful to the provincial government led by Governor Khalid Dimaporo for this assistance,” expressed school Principal Josephine Malaubang of FM Posadas Elementary School.

The delivery of construction materials will run from May 21 to 25.

“These construction materials are really a big help to our school. We wish to thank our provincial leaders especially Governor Dimaporo,” said Principal Lydia Linggolinggo of Maranding Central Elementary School. (VNL-PIO/LDN-PIA 10)
