OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental, Jan. 17 (PIA) -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has deputized the Department of Education (DepEd) to allow its qualified personnel to serve as PCOS technicians for the 2013 national and local elections.

This is provided in Resolution No. 9554 promulgated by the Comelec on Nov. 6, 2012 entitled “In the Matter of the Hiring and Selection of of Precinct Count Optical Scan Machine Technicians for Every Polling Center in Connection with the May 13, 2013 National and Local Elections.”

Pursuant to the said resolution, the Comelec has authorized the Manpower Pooling Group (MPG) to make representations with DepEd through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) or other similar undertaking in the screening, training, and deployment of technical support personnel for the PCOS Machines.

This is, however, subject to the minimum qualifications prescribed by the Comelec, Secretary Armin A. Luistro of DepEd said.

Meanwhile, the Comelec has also authorized the appropriation and allocation of the amount needed for the payment of the honoraria for those who will serve as PCOS Technicians.

The Project Director for the 2013 National and Local Elections of the Comelec will implement this resolution. (RCAguhob/PIA10-Misamis Occidental)
