DOLE’s SPES benefit hundreds in Mis. Occ.

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental, July 1 (PIA) -- Some 700 youths benefitted from the Summer Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), during this year's summer vacation.

Sponsored by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), in coordination with the provincial government of Misamis Occidental, the summer job of the SPES beneficiaries in the different offices of the Provincial Capitol was for 20 days.

The beneficiaries came from the local government units (LGU’s), such as, the cities of Oroquieta and Ozamiz and the municipalities of Bonifacio, Concepcion, Jimenez, Sapang Dalaga, Baliangao, Lopez Jaena, Aloran.

Luz Buaquiña, Provincial Manager of the Public Employment and Services Office (PESO) said a total fund of Php700,000 was utilized for the SPES, this year, lower by Php100,000 compared to Php800,000, last year.

But Buaquiňa said she is still very thankful because it was already a big help to the beneficiaries in their preparation for enrollment this school year 2012-2013.

During the culmination activity of SPES, the beneficiaries also thanked Governor Herminia Ramiro for her support to the program by way of granting the counterpart , despite the reduced Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) that the provincial government received.

With the Governor during the occasion were some members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) to show their support to the SPES. (Pat Nano/PIO/PIA-10 Mis. Occ.)
