MTPDP needs positive inputs – Sec. Paderanga

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Jan. 8 (PIA) -- The Medium Term Philippine Development Plan (MTPDP) 2011-2016 will serve as the blue print of the Aquino Administration.

Thus, explained Socio-economic Planning Secretary Cayetano W. Paderanga, III, during the recent regional consultation workshop on MTPDP held in Cagayan de Oro City, where he called on the participants for their positive inputs in all chapters of the MTPDP.

“I, therefore, encourage everyone to be serious in going through it and to freely give their suggestions for inclusion in the plan to be able to help develop implementable strategies, policies, programs and activities to come up with a workable MTPDP, during the plan period,” he said.

As example, he said, the MTPDP does not have a provision on credit and banking, a very important aspect in the development of the countryside, which he said should be part of the plan.

Included in the MTPDP are nine (9) chapters, namely: Macroeconomy, Competitive Industry and Services Sectors, Competitive, Sustainable Agriculture and Fisheries and Accelerating Infrastructure Development,Financial Sector, Good Governance and the Rule of Law, Social Development, Peace and Security and Conservation, Protection and Rehabilitation of Environment and Natural Resources Towards Sustainable Development.

Paderanga said the consultations will be done in all regions of the country, so they can claim ownership of their Regional MTPDP.

Among the participants of the activity were officials of the Regional Development Council (RDC) and the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) from Region 10 and the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and representatives of the regional government and non-government agencies, people’s organizations, labor groups, business and the private sector.

Meanwhile, Paderanga said another planning consultation will be done on the Medium Term Philippine Investment Plan (MTPIP) that translates the President’s development agenda as contained in his “Social Contract with the Filipino People.

Such contract envisions the country to have an organized and widely-shared rapid expansion of our economy through a government dedicated to honing and mobilizing our people’s skills and energies, as well as the responsible harnessing of our natural resources. (PIA 10)
