Ifugao coffee group receive coffee roaster
LAGAWE, Ifugao, Aug. 8 (PIA)- -Coffee producers in the province got a boost with the delivery of a coffee roaster worth P750,000 last week.
Jobal Malingan, manager of the Coffee Research Development Institute Cooperative, said five coffee organizations producing the Lagawe Blends, Ifugao Kape, Terraces Brew, Kasemelan and Pinoy Barako, will be utilizing said coffee roaster which has a capacity of 30 kilos.
Malingan said that with this facility, they will be able to lessen expenses in roasting coffee. She said that they bring their coffee beans to be roasted in Cavite incurring additional expenses on travel and other expenses.
Coffee producers are glad of this development, she expressed.
Malingan said that three of their members have undergone training last Sunday on how to operate the machine, which was funded under the Priority Development Assistance Fund of congressman Teddy Baguilat Jr.
The Department of Trade and Industry helped the coffee organizations with the project proposal for this undertaking.
Since the start of coffee production in this town in 2009, the demand for coffee is increasing and it is going worldwide with the assistance of government agencies such as the Department of Agriculture, DTI, and the provincial and municipal local government units.
