Ifugao PDRRMC joins in observance of Disaster Consciousness Month

LAGAWE, Ifugao, July 11 (PIA) -- The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Council (PDRRMC) launched here yesterday the provincial observance of July as Disaster Consciousness Month, with the theme “Ligtas na Bayan Maunlad na Pamayanan.”

In his speech, Gov. Eugene Balitang, PDRRMC chairperson, reminded every individual to respond immediately to emergencies especially during calamities. He also encouraged mayors to do the same in their own localities whenever disasters strike in order to save lives and properties.

He also extended his appreciation to the Red Cross volunteers for extending assistance during the past calamities that hit the province.

Balitang disclosed that the provincial government will organize its own disaster team that may be called during emergency cases. The team members will equipped with skills on how to respond immediately to situations where their services are needed.

The Bureau of Fire Protection and Management gave all the contact numbers of the different fire stations in the province that should be contacted in case of fire during the event.

The Red Cross also conducted a demonstration on first aid.

The second quarterly meeting of member agencies followed wherein all concerned offices reported their accomplishments in line with disaster. (JdP/VDB- PIA CAR,Ifugao)
