AFP invites qualified individuals for this year’s PMA exam

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Aug 10 (PIA) -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is inviting qualified individuals to take part in the upcoming Philippine Military Academy (PMA) entrance examination.

Jaran D. Abdula, Task Force Zamboanga Civil Military Operations (TFZ-CMO) chief, said the exam is slated on August 26 at the Western Mindanao State University.

He said the exam is open to all incoming college freshmen or college students provided they meet the necessary requirements.

Abdula said applicants should be a natural born Filipino, physically fit, and of good moral character.

Applicants should also be single and has never been married, and with no administrative or criminal case filed against him or her.

The premier military school in the country has also adjusted the mandatory height requirement for applicants that would benefit those who are not qualified in the previous years.

PMA, according to Abdula, has reduced the height requirement from 5’4” for males and 5’2” for females to 5’0” for both genders. However, applicants over 6’4” will not be accepted.

Abdula added that applicants should not be younger than 17 years old by April 1, 2013, and should not be more than 22 years old on the said date.

Interested applicants from the neighboring provinces of Sulu and Tawi-Tawi will no longer have to travel to Zamboanga as PMA will also conduct exams in the said areas.

For Sulu, the exam will be at the Notre Dame of Jolo College, and for Tawi-Tawi in Mindanao State University in the capital town of Bongao.
