ZAMBOANGA CITY, June 3 (PIA) -- Three illegal recruiters were arrested by police and military operatives last Friday night.

Authorities laid out an entrapment operation at around 10:10 p.m. within the vicinity of Barangay Hall of Tumaga after days of surveillance of the three suspects. Authorities, however, withheld the identities of the suspects pending the investigation.

Police said they received information of people engaged in human trafficking, thus, immediately conducted surveillance operation of the group. After gathering much information, the entrapment operation was carried out.

Confiscated from one of the suspects is the P3,000 marked money used by a poser to pay the suspects.

The suspects are now being investigated to uncover the group’s operations to put a stop on the rampant human trafficking in this part of the region.

In the past weeks, authorities have rescued over 50 human trafficking victims in separate operations mostly, in Tawi-Tawi area, all bound for Malaysia. The arrest of the suspects is hoped to shed light on the process and extent of illegal recruitment here and even all over the country. (MVC/JPA-PIA9 ZBST)
