PASAY CITY, April 22 (PIA) -- Forty eight candidates of Miss Philippines Earth 2012 on Saturday launched the one week environmental advocacies exhibit at the SM Mall of Asia, which runs from April 21 to 27.
Miss Earth Foundation executive director Cathy Untalan, in an interview said, that the beautiful candidates are doing environmental advocacies in their respective cities, which they are representing.
Untalan said during the exhibit, candidates shared to the public their knowledge of the environment, especially on the ecological solid waste management like recycling and reducing waste.
Moreover, the candidates will also engage in various activities such as tree-planting and coastal clean-ups, which aim to gradually help improve the environment, Untalan added.
Untalan was the 2006 Miss Earth-Water title holder.
She said winners of the pageant will go around in the communities to hold seminars to heighten the awareness of the public and to encourage them to an eco-friendly lifestyle.
During the exhibit, candidates invited the public to vote for them, saying that 50 percent of their winning points will come from the voters choice and another 50 percent from the judges.
