PNP, Comelec lead Unity Walk, prayer rally for safe 2013 elections
MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, Jan 22 (PIA) -- To ensure a peaceful conduct of May 2013 polls, Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office (SLPPO) headed by Police Senior Superintendent Armando F. Bolalin, SLPPO officer-in-charge headed a Unity Walk and Prayer Rally for a Secure And Fair Elections 2013, Sunday, January 20.
Acting Police Community Relations Officer Police Chief Inspector Ronaldo A Plecerda said in a press statement that the said activity was in collaboration with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Southern Leyte represented by Municipal Election Officer Lino L. Japson from the municipality of Macrohon.
The Unity Walk started at 5:30 a.m. at the Anatalio Gaviola Plaza in front of Maasin City Cathedral going to designated route and converged at the Sunken Garden, Barangay Asuncion here.
The report said that the day activity was participated by contingents from the Bureau of Fire Protection led by JSI Arlene T Barraca, Bureau of Fire Protection led by Provincial Director FSupt Rafael Doron, SLPCLO led by PSI Randie S Dagatan, SLPIAS led by PSI Ricardo Saludo, Maasin City Police Station led by P Marcelo C Bernardino, Jaime Leon Cardosa of Department of Education, and PO3 Gabriel Pacsa.
Non-government organizations such as Karancho -Maasin Chapter, Philippine Guardians Brotherhood Inc- Maasin Chapter led by Frank Bandibas, members of City Ordinance and Regulation Enforcers (CORE), and Healthy City Initiatives of Maasin City, and the Muslim community participated in the said Unity Walk and Prayer Rally.
Plecerda revealed that Election Officer Japson led the participants in the recital of Voter’s Pledge.
Japson said, “To be responsible voters and vote for candidates who renounce violence, coercion, vote buying, and corruption as means for getting elected, likewise, exercise impartiality and non-partisan,” Plecerda quoted Japson during his message . (PIA8, Southern Leyte)
