OWWA-8 sets Migrant Workers Day in Tacloban
MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, June 7 (PIA) -- The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA)-Regional office 8 will conduct a Migrant Workers Day today, June 7, to be held at the Leyte Provincial Capitol gymnasium, Tacloban City.
OWWA Local Communications Officer Florence D. Panao disclosed that around 800 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) together with their families throughout Eastern Visayas region are expected to participate in this year’s celebration which will start at 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
This year’s theme is “OFW, sa Sipag at Galing, Bilib Kami Sa ‘yo” and the day activity, “Araw ng Pasasalamat,” recognizes the valuable contribution of OFWs to our country, Panao said in her press release sent to PIA-Maasin.
Panao reported that OWWA 8 sent invitations to OFW family circles to attend the said activity.
”In Maasin City, we sent invitation letters to San Rafael OFW Family Circles based in Barangay San Rafael and to Fr. Margarito Soco from the Lady Assumption Parish, all of Maasin City,” she revealed.
While, as for the province of Southern Leyte, OWWA 8 invited the family circles from the towns of Padre Burgos and Malitbog, Panao further revealed.
Activities lined up are calisthenics, Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar to be conducted by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, lectures and demonstrations on marketing and packaging of products from both government and private entities, free medical check-up, service fair, games, fun and raffle, Panao further said.
