Eastern Samar Division gears for EVRAA

BORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar, Jan. 6 (PIA) -- Some 400 athletes, 70 coaches and chaperons are gathered today at the Llorente National High School (LNHS) and Llorente Central Elementary School (LCES) for a concentration training in preparation for the Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association (EVRAA) Meet.

The concentration training will last until January 23, per information given by Dr. Niel Alas, Physical Education Schools Sports supervisor.

During this training, athletes will undergo rigid training for the different events as follow: archery (secondary), athletics- boys and girls (elementary & secondary), arnis (elementary & secondary), badminton (elementary & secondary), baseball boys (elementary & secondary), basketball boys (elementary & secondary), basketball girls (secondary), boxing (elementary & secondary), chess (elementary & secondary), soccer football boys (elementary & secondary), gymnastics boys (elementary & secondary), rhythmic and wag gymnastics girls (elementary & secondary), sipa boys (elementary), sipak takraw boys (secondary), softball girls (elementary & secondary) table tennis-boys and girls (elementary & secondary) tennis- boys and girls (elementary & secondary), taekwando- boys and girls (elementary & secondary), swimming-boys and girls (elementary & secondary), volleyball- boys and girls (elementary & secondary).

According to Alas, on January 24, after this rigid training, the Eastern Samar Division delegates will go to Tacloban City to join with other Province and City Divisions to compete for the EVRAA Meet, which will open on January 27 at the Leyte Sports Development Center, Tacloban City.

The sports meet which is hosted by the Leyte provincial government and DepEd Leyte Division will close on February 2.

Eastern Samar Division placed second in the over-all team standing both in Elementary and Secondary during EVRAA Meet last year which was held in Calbayog City. (SDC-PIA 8, E. Samar)
