Quake sends guests home
BORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar, Sept 2 (PIA) –- It was supposed to be a festive occasion but a 7.6 earthquake at past 9 p.m. changed all that. All preparations - program, finger-foods, fun - went to naught as guests rushed home to be with their families.
The evening, assigned as the evening for all national and local agencies, in celebration of the Patron Saint of Borongan. But before the program formally started right in the city plaza, the quake shook the grounds.
The 7.6 quake extended for about 30 seconds and was enough reason to drive every attendee home to attend to their respective families, made more exigent by a a tsunami alert level-3 immediately after the quake.
The LGU-Night was supposed to be part of the 10-evening presentations leading to the city fiesta on September 8, in honor of Nuestra Senora de la Natividad.(PIA-Eastern Samar/aen)
