Catbalogan inmates get gift packs
CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar, July 2 (PIA) -- Inmates of the Catbalogan City Jail were visited by local leaders June 28 to cap off the Community Relations Service Month of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, following the “Serbisyo-Publikong Tapat, Nagmamalasakit at May Integridad, Tagumpay ng Bawat Komunidad” theme.
City councilor Stephany Uy-Tan, together with several Sangguniang Kabataan chairpersons, WARAYA members and youth leaders, gave lunch packs, hygiene kits, and grocery items to 40 inmates.
The visit also was an opportunity for BJMP officials to express to the city government their concerns and requests, and to ensure the safety and security of the facility. The visit was also a chance for Uy-Tan to reach out to the prisoners and extend her support to the office.
The Catbalogan City Jail is located about five kilometers from the city proper at Barangay Lagundi, Catbalogan City, Samar.
The Catbalogan City Jail was opened in 2011 holding 40 inmates and manned by seven BJMP officers and jail guards. (PIA 8-Samar with Catbalogan City Mayor’s Office)
