Pintados-Kasadyaan Foundation gets ready for the Sto. Niño fiesta celebration
TACLOBAN CITY, May 7 (PIA) -- Preparations are underway for the forthcoming Leyte fiesta celebration on June 30, highlighting the festival of festivals in honor of Sr. Sto. Niño, the Patron Saint.
During the meeting attended by heads and representatives from government and socio-civic organizations, held recently at the SMED Center this city, list of different activities together with the corresponding month-long daily schedule were presented as the working guide for the different committees organized.
Among the group’s plans for this year’s activities is the street dancing and playground exhibition depicting the different festivals, which will be participated in by contingents from the municipalities of Leyte such as Abuyog, Tanauan, Alang-alang, Dulag, Palo, Sta. Fe, and Carigara, among others.
According to Palo, Leyte Mayor Remedios “Matin” Petilla who at the same time is this year’s Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival of Festivals Chair, “it is a good opportunity for the province of Leyte to showcase the different festivals of the municipalities, as they will not only attract the attention of the visitors and expectators, but they are also being considered as festival “champions” who deserve to be seen and are worthy to be proud of.
Moreover, she added, “We, Leyteños should be very proud that our own festivals are already well-acknowledged and highly regarded not only nationwide, but possibly worldwide considering the visitors from all walks of life who just came to witness the festive atmosphere in honor of our dear Sto. Niño, who is not only considered as the Patron Saint of the city but also of the whole province of Leyte.”
Other activities lined up for the occasion include the Searches for Miss Leyte Pintados, Bituon ha Leyte, Ginoong Leyte, Hip-hop Dance Challenge Grand Finals and the Subiran Regatta. (GTT-PIA8)
