TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, Sept 4 (PIA) -- The road upgrading project of a gravel road along Ormoc-Lake Imelda was formally turned over by the 4th district of Leyte to the barangay officials of Brgy. Donghol, Ormoc City last August 22.

The turnover was led by fourth district Rep. Lucy Marie Torres-Gomez, who was assisted by Engr. Lino Francisco C. Gonzalez of the Department of Public Works and Highways and a number of Ormoc City officials.

Gonzalez said the project had a contract cost of P49,439,000 and was completed on August 22, the day of the turnover.

The engineer said barangay officials and residents in the said area expressed their gratitude to the concerned authorities for the completion of the project, because traveling will now be easier.

Gonzalez said for many years, residents of Brgy. Donghol, together with those living in nearby areas, had a hard time transporting their farm products to the city due to the unserviceable national road.

He added that during those times, the mode of transport was a single motors or motorcycles since public utility vehicles refused to use the road because of its deplorable condition. (PIA-8)
