Labor Day job fair in Tacloban offers 4,700 oveseas, local placements
TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, April 30 (PIA) -- Around 4,700 overseas and local job placements will be made available to the jobseekers in Eastern Visayas during the Labor Day Job Fair on May 1 at the Tacloban City Convention Center.
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) regional director Exequiel Sarcauga said that 26 local employers and 12 overseas recruitment agencies will be participating in the Labor Day Job Fair from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sarcauga said the information came from Marites Z. Viñas, Chair of the Committee on Jobs Fair and Rosario Jervoso, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) regional coordinator.

The job fair is one of the highlights of the 110th Labor Day Celebration to give the unemployed, displaced workers, and the newly graduates the opportunity to find a job or other alternative source of income.
Among the local employers that confirmed their participation in the jobs fair are APAC Customer Service, Fast Distribution, Health Station Maternity Hospital, Sheridan-Jeco- Group of Companies, Dranix Distribution Inc., Gaisano Mall, Andoks, New Leyte Edible Oil, Cellness Connect Enterprises, Volunteer for the Visayan, Taytay sa Kauswagan, Trisean Ventures/Bayantel, Sinai Manpower Agency, Sunpride Foods Inc., ABE International Business College, Ford Tacloban, Pre-Biotic Health, MSS Cycle Trading, MacDonalds, Robinsons Place, Camella Homes, Max’s Restaurant, Paramount Human Resource Service Cooperative, and Motortrade.
Sarcauga said that there are at least 771 local job vacancies available in the jobs fair to include but not limited to customer service representatives, sales representatives, health consultants, accounting staff, service crew, cashiers, sales agents, warehousemen, instructors, sales associates, and drivers.
For those who are seeking overseas employment, there are 12 overseas recruitment agencies that have confirmed their participation at the jobs fair with at least 4,000 job orders for immediate deployment abroad.
Meanwhile, POEA Regional Coordinator Jervoso explained that only job orders that are for immediate deployment overseas were considered by the POEA to ensure that applicants if qualified may be deployed in two-week time.
The Department of Labor in Eastern Visayas is calling on all job applicants to take full advantage of this rare opportunity of a whole day jobs fair by coming to the Tacloban City Astrodome on May 1 and explore every job vacancy that may fit their educational background, training and experience.
Virgilio Doroja Jr., DOLE Information Officer, reminded that interested applicants must bring with them such documentary requirements such as resume, diploma, transcript of records, employment certification and other relevant documents. (PIA8)
