BFAR awards 8,000 Kitong fingerlings to Siquijor
SIQUIJOR, July 13 (PIA) -- The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Region 7 has awarded 8,000 “siganid” or locally known as “kitong” fingerlings to Siquijor on July 6.
Each fingerling costs P5; the whole batch totaling P40,000, BFAR-Siquijor provincial fisheries officer Warren S. Inao said.
The project is part of the Agri Pinoy program for the provincial government’s demo farm in Tongo, Siquijor, Siquijor where a 10x10 meter floating fish cage has been put up, Inao added.
The fish cage has four compartments, each housing 2,000 fingerlings.
