DA to hold Cassava Grand Festival in Siaton

DUMAGUETE CITY, April 16 (PIA) -- The Department of Agriculture Regional (DA) Field Unit-7 will hold a Cassava Grand Festival Day on April 17, 2012 at the Moriah Farm, Brgy. Napacao, Siaton town.

The festival aims to showcase the appropriate cassava production technologies planted on a 0.5-hectare farm lot in Siaton town.

Highlighting the one-day event is a Cooking Demonstration of dishes using cassava as its raw material, said Nittz Bangay, information officer of the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) here.

Invited to give a keynote speech is DA Assistant Secretary for Operations/National Corn and Cassava Program Director ASEC Edilberto De Lima.

He will be accompanied by Dr. Candido Damo, National Cassava Program Focal Person.

Bangay said the DA Field Unit-7 is assisting the implementation of the cassava program in the province.

Expected to attend the festival are Siaton Mayor Alberto Ator, Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo, Provincial Corn Coordinator Medardo Villalon, Provincial Cassava Focal Person George Ubag and Provincial Agriculturist Gregorio Paltinca. (RMN/PIA Negros Oriental)
