Abra SP holds mobile session in San Juan town
SAN JUAN, Abra, June 26 (PIA) -- The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) presided by Vice-Governor Rolando Somera conducted its first out-of-town regular session in this town last week, as part of its efforts to bring the government closer to the people.
The legislative body approved four ordinances and one resolution during the said session. The ordinances include the loan applications of the local government units of Malibcong, Bangued, and Villaviciosa from the Land Bank of the Philippines.
The Malibcong local government unit (LGU) is applying for a loan for the construction of their municipal building; Bangued LGU for for the construction of a two-storey building extension of the existing legislative building, and Villaviciosa for the construction of a municipal hall, repair of their old municipal building, and continuation of their gymnasium.
The resolution approved is sponsored by SP Member Kathleen Maria A. Balbin requesting the Department of Education-Abra to conduct a comprehensive study to determine the feasibility of the incorporation of the bamboo craft technology into the basic secondary curriculum in the province.
After the session, the officials distributed rice to more than 200 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.
Mayor Marco M. Bautista thanked the SP members for choosing San Juan as the venue of their first mobile session. The people expressed appreciation to the provincial officials for paying them a visit and making them feel the presence of government that is willing to serve and take care of them.
