Dumaguete City turns over a school building to city high school
DUMAGUETE CITY, June 20 (PIA) -- Dumaguete City has turned over today another one-storey school building with two classrooms to the Dumaguete City High School in Barangay Calindagan.
Dumaguete City Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria led the turnover ceremony, which was also attended by second district Congressman George Arnaiz, Governor Roel Degamo and Department of Education (DepEd) Dumaguete City Schools Assistant Superintendent Dr. Emigdio Omictin.
Sagarbarria said the project was started by the late Governor Emilio Macias II, when the staff of the Dumaguete City High School requested to the city government the completion of the said building, and he then immediately allocated funds for the building with the help of Congressman Arnaiz and the province of Negros Oriental.
“Unya nahuman naman ning unang andana nga building, ato na pud hangyoon si Congressman Arnaiz na humanon ang second floor ning maong building ug Governor Degamo (Because the first storey has been completed, we will again request Congressman Arnaiz to complete the second floor of the same building also also to Governor Degamo),” Sagarbarria said.
The mayor added that the city government will continue and improve the delivery of educational services in the city and help the Department of Education’s aim of providing quality basic education.
The turnover was also witnessed by the barangay officials of barangay Calindagan, teachers, and students.
Father Ronnie Ablong , Pastoral Director of Saint Joseph Seminar of the Diocese of Dumaguete administered the blessing of the said classroom building. (mbcn/JCT/PIA-Negros Oriental)
