Army’s 11th IB conducts 1st youth leadership summit
DUMAGUETE CITY, June 1 (PIA) -- A total of 40 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials from the different barangays of La Libertad town graduated recently from the four-day Youth Leadership Summit (YLS).
The 11th Infantry Battalion facilitated the first youth summit to develop the youth into responsible members of the community at La Limar Beach Resort in La Libertad.
During the graduation ceremony, the youth-participants demonstrated the visions and values learned through cultural presentation with the theme “Bayanihan Para sa Kabataan”.
YLS also emphasizes values formation to make the youth morally and spiritually upright; personality development through leadership skills development, team building and role playing through exposures in various exercises and group activities; and social awareness to insulate the youth from destructive vices, lawless elements, and deceptive scheming from some sectors.
According to 11th IB commander Lt. Col. Wilfredo Isaac, the local government officials were impressed by the results and expressed interest to sustain the program to cover the most number of youths in their respective communities.
In her message to the participants, Rep. Jocelyn Limkaichong of the 1st district of Negros Oriental said that the youth should take full advantage of their young years through joyful but worthwhile activities instead of vices.
Isaac said that the youth plays a vital role in the community. He also lauded the active and generous support of the LGUs for programs that aim to realize the full potential of the youth. (RMN/JCT-PIA Negros Oriental)
