NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, May 28 (PIA6) -- The Central Negros Council for Coastal Resource Development Council (CENECCORD) will hold a Research Capability Building for the Council program implementers on May 29-31 at the Southeast Asian Fishery Development Center (SEAFDEC) in Tigbauan, Iloilo and Marine Laboratory in Guimaras.

A total of 25 participants from the Technical Working Group (TWG) are expected to attend the activity headed by Council chairman and Pontevedra Mayor Jose Maria Alonso and Executive Director Marilou Penafiel, and Atty Ma. Conchita Antipatia of the Provincial Planning and Development Office; they will jointly facilitate the activity.

This activity is aimed at acquainting project implementers on aquaculture technologies that will help improve the production and quality coastal resources in Central Negros areas.

It is hoped that available technology at SEAFDEC will be efficiently transferred to the project implementers and eventually to the local coastal communities.

A hands-on training and field exposure to the SEAFDEC laboratories in Tigbauan and Guimaras will provide numerous learning opportunities for the participants.

The activity is in line with the implementation of the “Effective Natural Resource Governance Program funded by the European Union and implemented by the Province of Negros Occidental through the Provincial Environment Management Office.*(EAD/JCM-PIA 6/PEMO Negros Occidental)
