ROXAS CITY, Capiz, July 5 (PIA) -- Three endangered species were saved, protected and brought back to their natural habitat by Pilar municipal government in Capiz from April to June this year.

These endangered species included a spinner dolphin and two sea turtles which were found along the coastal barangays of Pilar town by fishermen who reported the discovery to concerned local authorities for proper action.

“The residents have developed the true essence of caring, saving and protecting the marine life,” according to a report of the town.

The report said that the positive values formation was in line with the town’s ecotourism campaign dubbed “Save Life, Save the Earth” which has been on its second year of implementation by the Tourism Division under Pilar Mayor Rita Lyn Patricio’s supervision.

In 2011, three sea turtles were also saved by the division through the support of a response team composed of representatives from Bantay Dagat and Department of Agriculture, among others.

Pilar town’s coastal barangays include Dulangan, Binaobawan, Rosario, Poblacion, Natividad, San Ramon, Casanayan, San Antonio, Balogo and Dayhagan. (JCM/AAL-PIA6 Capiz)
