BFP ensures schools' safety for classes
ROXAS CITY, Capiz, May 22 (PIA) -- The Office of the Roxas City Fire Marshal of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) kicked off its fire safety inspection in schools last May 18 in preparation for the opening of classes on June 4.
BFP – Roxas City public information officer FO2 Marlon Garbo said Plaridel and Tanque Elementary Schools here were among the first school campuses that were inspected last week.
“All public elementary and secondary schools will be inspected. Next will be boarding houses in the city,” Garbo added.
Two teams have been formed by BFP – Roxas City to undertake the inspection in line with a memorandum from the national headquarters on Oplan Balik Eskwela (OBE).
The firemen also joined the motorcade in connection with the opening day of Brigada Eskwela to heighten public awareness and call for volunteers to clean public classrooms and other school-based facilities.
Other fire stations provincewide also conducted OBE activities in their respective coverage areas.
OBE which will be officially activated by the Department of Education on May 28 until June 8, aims to address the problems encountered during the period particularly in the enrollment of students to ensure their attendance on the first day of classes. (JCM/AAL-PIA 6, Capiz)
