Mindanao rice production study to be presented in Costa Rica

    Davao City (17 May) -- A study on the Impact of Infrastructure Support on the Technical Efficiency of Rice Production in Mindanao will be presented at the international conference in Costa Rica.
    Spearheaded by the Mindanao Economic and Development Council, the study was written by its technical staff composed of Ever Abasolo, Thernalyn Joaquin, Gemma Dagaas, and Marjorie Apurado. (+)

Four Davao barangays, pilot areas of Pre-Pregnancy Package program

    Davao City (17 May) -- Four barangays in Davao City are recipient of the Pre-Pregnancy Package (PPP) where women are given basic health interventions to achieve optimum health and nutritional status in preparation for pregnancy.
    The four barangays were identified as Buhangin, Calinan, Sasa and Marilog. (+)

    Koronadal City (17 May) -- Matagumpay na ipinatutupad ang kampanya laban sa mga illegal na droga dito sa lalawigan ng Sultan Kudarat.
    Mula Hulyo noong nakaraang taon hanggang sa kasalukuyan ay pinagtutuunan ng pansin ng mga kapulisan sa pangunguna ng Sultan Kudarat Police Provincial Office (SKPPO) sa pakikiisa ng Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (PAIDSOTF), Investigation and Detective Management Branch at ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) ng Rehiyon Dose ang pagsagawa ng special at buy bust operations sa iba't ibang panig ng Sultan Kudarat. SYNOPSIS: At 2:00 a.m. today, Tropical Storm "COSME" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 395 kms west of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro (13.6šN 117.5šE) with maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It is forecast to move north at 7 kph. Tropical Storm "DINDO" was estimated at 680 kms east northeast of Basco, Batanes (22.5šN 128.5šE) with maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. Forecast to move northeast at 30 kph.
FORECAST: Northern Palawan and Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island will experience rains and gusty winds and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Rest of Luzon and Western Visayas will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over the western and eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. The rest of the country will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast will prevail over Northern Luzon and coming from the Southwest over Southern Luzon and Visayas with moderate to rough seas. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the Southwest and South with slight to moderate seas except during thunderstorms.
