Soldiers conduct literacy program
Camp Kalaw, Monkayo, Compostela Valley Province (26 November) -- The Research Team for Peace and Development in barangay Tamia, Compostela, Compostela Valley province led the formal opening of Alternative Learning System (ALS) and accreditation and equivalency program last November 21.
The launching was attended by 2Lt JEFFERSON F ALGARNE (INF) PA and 2LT BENJIE A JIMENEZ (INF) PA, Executive officer and Platoon leader respectively of Alpha Company, 25th IB, 10ID, PA were joined by Tangilie Biņas, District ALS coordinator, and Anthony Pasquito Jr ALS supervisor, Compostela, CVP.
More than 30 beneficiaries will be conducting classes during weekends at the day care center of barangay Tamia, mostly ranging from 15 to 40 years old individuals who wanted to take advantage of the program. The session will cover a 40 days period. The soldiers will be acting as substitute teachers.
Likewise, through the donation of the office of 1st Congressional District, Hon. Congressman Manuel Zamora, the soldiers distributed the school supplies intended for the ALS Learners. Meanwhile, outside the barangay hall, soldiers conducted free haircut for the community.
The 25IB Research Team for Peace and Development are at present helping the Local Government of Compostela Valley Province in the conduct of Rapid Need Assessment for projects that will alleviate the living condition of the local populace and ultimately bring development in the area. (10th ID) [top]
