P8.6-B set for Phase 2 of DAR, ADB program

Davao City (16 May) -- A P8.6 billion worth of infrastructure project will be implemented by the Department of Agrarian Reform Community Project Phase 2 (ARCP 2) with funding source from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Regional Direcootor Datu Yusoph Mama said that ARCP 2 aims to sustain and boost the support services delivery to agrarian reform beneficiaries in 18 provinces in Mindanao.
He said that ARCP2 project takes off from the successful implementation of ARCP I in 165 agrarian reform communities (ARCs) nationwide.
It has a wider in scope in terms of the package of assistance that include farm-to-market roads, irrigation facilities, water supply, land surveys and rural enterprise development, Mama said.
He said ARCP 2 covers 152 ARCs, 30 of which are from the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and were selected from 18 provinces having the greater need for assistance and highest potential for development.
This is one way of reducing poverty in the poorest ARCs and nearby barangays by ensuring increased incomes of beneficiaries and improved quality of life in these communities. Mama said. (DAR XI/PIA XI) [top]
