Bring public service to those in need – Gov. Diasen
Tabuk City, Kalinga (10 January) -- Governor Floydelia Diasen called on all employees to start the year with a vibrant working attitude towards better delivery of public service to the people especially the vulnerable ones. She asked for a renewed commitment to invest for a bright future to make this republic a formidable force for human development and change.
Addressing government servants during the first inter-agency flag ceremony held at Capitol grounds on January 5, Diasen challenged everybody for another year of "push and shove" to bring change and progress for the province by using the offices and resources that the people entrusted.
She reported her administration implemented P60 million worth of sectoral projects in 2008 financed from the 20% development fund of the province. Consistent with her PEACE (peace promotion, educational growth, agriculture enhancement, culture and tourism development, environment and health) agenda, she vowed to make this year another banner year of her administration through better service.
"Service is not a word that describes the act of rendering voluntary assistance to others but is best mean our commitment to invest in a future we do not own and to act according to the standards of public service," Diasen said.
She acknowledged the contribution of everyone saying "if not for the exemplary dedication that you have shown towards public service, we might not have accomplished what we have done so far since Day 1," adding that "we can do better if we all work together as a team."
Diasen was conferred last December 2008 during the 4-day global peace festival in Manila the title of peace ambassador by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), an NGO with special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations that is working efforts to implement the UN Millennium Development Goal (MDG).
An advocate of peace, Diasen's PEACE agenda is parallel to the objectives of UPF that looks for ways in which the world can actually become a "global family" by bringing people together across the dividing lines of faith, ethnicity and national background. Best local peacekeeping practices and laudable achievements earned her the prestigious award.
'Let me assure you that the PEACE agenda which I have advocated since I assumed office will continue to see through the light of day in the provincial government," Diasen vows. (PIA-Kalinga) [top]
