Quirino's fossilized flower to bid for Guinness world record

Cabarroguis, Quirino (3 October) -- Preparations are now underway for the province's attempt to be included in Guinness Book of World Records as the province with the biggest fossilized flower.

Director Julie T. Alonzo of the Department of Trade and Industry and the over-all chairman of the project said this project was conceived by Governor Dax Cua in his vision to put Quirino in the world map.

"Our governor wants our province to be remembered not as place adjacent to Nueva Vizcaya and Isabela but as the province with united people who crafted the biggest fossilized flower in the world," Alonzo said.

The biggest flower bid will test the unity, cooperation, patience and creativity of the Quirinians. "We are aiming for a world record and this undertaking will surely make every Quirinian proud of being a part of its success, Alonzo added.

Edilberto S. Acio, College Administrator of Quirino Polytechnic College and co-chairman of the project stressed the importance of volunteerism as he invited all sectors of the community to extend their help by way of contributing leaves and other forest products needed in the project.

The biggest flower will make use of leaves and other raw materials from the forest which will be carefully processed with caustic soda and hydrogen peroxide. (PIA Quirino) [top]
