Tagalog News: PGMA ipinaabot ang pasasalamat sa SunPower

Manila (8 January) -- Kasunod ng tagumpay ng Sinag solar-powered car sa World Solar Challenge sa Australia, ipinaabot ni Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ang pasasalamat nito sa suportang ibinigay ng SunPower, isang US-based solar cell manufacturer na namuhunan ng may kabuuang $600 milyon sa Laguna Techno Park.

Ang solar panel na ginamit ng Sinag solar-powered car ay ginawa ng SunPower samantalang ang katawan ng nasabing sasakyan ay gawa sa carbon fibers. Ang desenyo at pagbuo naman sa sasakyang ito ay isinagawa ng faculty at mga mag-aaral ng Mechanical Engineering Department at Electronic and Communications Engineering Department ng De La Salle University-Manila sa tulong ng Ford Group Philippines, San Miguel Corp., Motolite, Shell, Sunpower, Philippine Airlines at Ventus.

Ayon sa Pangulo, ang tagumpay na nakamit ng bansa sa larangaang ito ay nagpapatunay na ang kakayahan nating mga Pilipino ay hindi lamang sa paggawa ng solid na desinyo at pagbuo ng sasakyan kundi pati narin ng pagtatag ng magandang solar power technology sa Pilipinas. (Lgtomas/PIA 12) [top]
