Western Visayas tourism officers gather in Capiz for final preparations

Roxas City (20 November) -- Regional Director Edwin Trompeta led tourism officers of Western Visayas for the meeting and updates on the preparations for the region's Tourism Assembly in Capiz.

Trompeta said that the upcoming tourism assembly in Capiz is one big event that would help promote not only Capiz but all provinces and cities in Western Viasyas because of their respective festivals and cultural presentations that will be showcased here.

The WV tourism assembly will open on December 4 and will end on December 6, which is also in time for the Sinadya sa Halaran festival of Capiz and Roxas City on December 3 to 8.

Aside from finalizing all preparations for the various activities for the assembly, Trompeta with Capiz Provincial Tourism Officer Alphonsus Tesoro and different event committees conducted an inspection of the various billeting areas, hotels and program sites.

Other issues that were tackled during the meeting include the security preparations, cultural presentations, updates on the tourism congress, parade of festivals, confirmed guests, travel fair, tourism awards and overall preparations.

On the other hand, Trompeta disclosed that they have already received about 40 nominees for the various WV tourism award categories.

The tourism excellence award aims to recognize people and organization's contributions for the development of tourism industry in the region. (PIA) [top]
