RDC-6 executive order up for amendment
Iloilo City (19 November) -- The Development Administration Committee of the Western Visayas Regional Development Council (RDC) will tackle the revised draft Executive Order amending Executive Order 325 on the reorganization of the Regional Development Councils in the country during its last quarterly meeting for 2009 slated tomorrow, November 29.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Director and DAC chairperson Evelyn A. Trompeta said that also included in their agenda are Resolution Nos. 002 and 003, series of 2009 on the proposed amendment in the Local Government Code of 1991 and a presentation on the guidelines for mainstreaming disaster response in local development plans.
The draft executive order seeks to amend EO 325 issued on April 12, 1996 in order to rationalize the structure and operations of the RDC to take into account issuances made after the 1996 order affecting it.
The proposed amendment sought by Resolution Nos. 002 and 003 of the Regional Multi-Sectoral Forest Protection Committee seeks to make the position of Environment and Natural Resources Officer (ENRO), which is optional in the Local Government Code of 1991, a mandatory one in provincial, municipal and city local government units.
The presentation is designed to apprise members of the committee on the guidelines formulated by the national government for mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) in subnational development and land use or physical planning.
The RDC is the highest policy making body and directs the course of development in the regions through the formulation of continuing, coordinated and fully integrated social and economic policies, plans and programs. (PIA 6-JSC) [top]
