San Jose, Dinagat Islands (May 7) -- The National Food Authority (NFA) Caraga Regional office bares the construction of NFA warehouse in the capital town of San Jose in Dinagat Islands.
NFA Dinagat Islands Provincial Manager Regino Delfin in an interview recently said, the proposed site will be located at Purok 5, Barangay Luna, San Jose and will accommodate 30,000 tons of rice.
Delfin added that the soon to be constructed warehouse is bigger than the warehouse built in Dapa, Surigao del Norte.
He assured the provincial government that the said construction will be prioritized by the national government considering that it should have been done last year has it not been for some problems encountered before.
He explained that the last time NFA went looking for an area that is most economical and easier to develop for a lesser cost on the part of the government.
Meanwhile, Dinagat Islands Governor Jade Ecleo revealed that a certain Nanay Carmencita Balocan donated a one hectare lot to the provincial government, which in turn they donated to the NFA to serve as their counterpart to the project.
Gov. Jade was very grateful to Nanay Carmencita saying that without her the people could not buy rice for only P18.25.
"Ikaw ang amo pinakahero sa tanan [You are our hero]," Gov. Jade added.
It maybe recalled in her recent visit in Dinagat, Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ordered the executives of the NFA to construct the soonest possible time the warehouse in Dinagat to properly deliver the rice needs of the people. (PIA-Surigao del Norte) [top]
