NAVFORSOL joins cleanup of Corangon fish sanctuary

by GR Acido

Legazpi City (10 August) -- The Naval Forces Southern Luzon (NAVFORSOL) had sent a contingent to participate in the clean-up of Corangon Fish Sanctuary and Marine Reserve in the waters of Tiwi, Albay along the Lagonoy Gulf.

The August 5 undertaking is one of the pre-fiesta activities initiated by the local government unit for the Tiwi town fiesta on August 10-11.

The Tiwi municipal government initiated clean-up drive for the Corangon Fish Sanctuary sought to remove debris that end up smothering and killing the coral formations inside the fish sanctuary.

Three sacks of assorted plastic garbage were retrieved in the vicinity of Corangon Fish Sanctuary.

Other participating units in the clean-up drive include: Bicol Scuba Divers Foundation, Inc. (BSDFI) and Bantay Dagat of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR). (NAVFORSOL/PIA) (PIA) [top]
