DOLE XI warns applicants against illegal recruitment in the region

Davao City (29 March) -- The Department of Labor and Employment in the region warned the public of the illegal recruitment activities of a certain Jupiana Hordan Y Cortez, 31 years old and a resident of Barangay Campo Cuevas, Trento, Agusan, Agusan del Sur.
She was apprehended at Nasipit Base Port, Agusan del Norte last February 27, 2006 while about to board the vessel Our Lady of Mount Carmel with eleven victims of illegal recruitment, one of which was a minor.
The victims were residents of Monkayo, Tagum City and Trento with ages ranging from 17-27 years old. Hordan was apprehended by operatives of Oplan Pagsisikap, a CIDG Flagship Project Campaign Against Illegal Recruitment in cooperation with the DOLE Caraga Regional Office.
The public is enjoined to notify the nearest Public Employment Offices or the Police of any suspicious characters recruiting young female workers in their localities. (DOLE XI/PIA XI) [top]
