Feature: PICE celebration, a huge success

Davao City (2 December) -- The Civil Engineering weeklong celebration of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) Davao City chapter (November 23 – 29) was a great success following a good attendance of civil engineers coming from Davao City who attended the PICE national convention in Baguio City.

PICE Davao City chapter president, Engr. Ademar C. Pama said the attendance in this national convention was important because our civil engineers would be able to earn the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) which is one of the important requirement in renewing their licenses.

Engr. Pama has expressed his gratitude to the different radio stations and personalities who have coordinated their weeklong PICE activities and have aired their interviews like DXOW anchorman Boy Bilaan Acojedo in his daily radio program dubbed as "Tingog sa Masa"; DXKT anchorman Erin Lomosbog in his program "Radio Patrol"; and DXGO anchorman Edgar Banzon in his program "Balitang Bayan".

Thanks to PICE Davao City chapter Secretary Sharon who has been very active in furnishing updates on the PICE activities.

Engr. Pama also thanked the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) through Edith Isidro and Rose B. Palacio of the Philippine News Agency (PNA) in their efforts in promoting the PICE civil engineering weeklong activities.

"We have made our Davao City chapter activities more meaningful with the continuing seminars and lectures we have provided for our civil engineers for their enhancement, growth and development," he said.

Engr. Pama said also that " PICE Davao City chapter will continue their yearly activities in tree planting at Malagos watershed to protect our water resources and our community service such as the Adopt a School at Tamugan area, Calinan, Davao City and provide services for the Gawad Kalinga Community Infrastructure project."

He also announced the tentative PICE Davao City chapter Christmas party, general assembly and election of Board of Directors on December 30, 2009. We will finalize these plans during our board meeting, he said.

The current (2009) officers and Board of Directors of PICE Davao City chapter are: President – Ademar C. Pama; 1st VP – Ariel C. Lagmay; 2nd VP – Angel T. Torrejon; Secretary – Sharon Angelica G. Bonguyan; Treasurer – Arnel L. Villalba; Auditor – Mildred A. Martinez; and P.I.O. – Geffren R. Bernardo.

Board of Directors include: Oscar C. dela Cruz; Hilario A. Hernandez; Norberto G. Festin; Theresalina K. Gonzaga; Eduardo C. Oroz; Perry Neil B. Palacio; Elvi L. Sorrera; and Evtri E. Tabanguil. Immediate Past President is Rey C. Chavez. (PIA XI) [top]
