DTI gives citations and awards to Cauayan City

Cauayan City, Isabela (12 November) -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Isabela has awarded citations and gave awards to this city for the projects it has implemented for the benefit of Cauayenos.

One award was given to the management of the mushroom production center as 2009 Best Medium Term Enterprise for the spreading of livelihood projects through mushroom production involving city residents that made them gainfully benefited.

Acting Manager Paul Rivera of the Mushroom Production Center received the award from DTI-Isabela and vowed to continue the livelihood project on mushroom production to improve the lives especially of the needy Cauayenos.

Another award given by the Department of Trade and Industry to the city government is the "2009 One Town One Product" (OTOP) where several other localities competed to be recognized. Cauayan city won in the search in the provincial category.

Other towns with OTOP are San Mateo, Alicia, Delfin Albano, San Guillermo, and Palanan.

Rivera said the city never thought of winning in the search, instead the city’s mushroom production center has done its share to let Cauayan residents benefit from the livelihood project that the city government is offering and with its aim to uplift the living condition of residents.

He said the city government, through the leadership of the local elected officials, is committed to have the residents gain extra income to mitigate the effects of global economic recession in previous months. (PIA Isabela) [top]
