Quirino draws up plan to face AH1N1 threat
Cabarroguis, Quirino (February 25) -- The provincial government of Quirino has drawn up a mitigating plan if in case there will be threats of AH1N1 to Quirino residents or suspected carriers of the disease here.
In a two-day planning workshop conducted by the experts from the Cagayan Valley's Center for Health and Development (CHD2), local as well as national government offices based in this province joined the planning workshop aimed at crafting a very effective and suitable mitigating measures to stop a possible AH1N1 pandemic if there will be found carriers of the disease.
Dr. Marian Lyn de Laza, chief of the regional epidemiology and surveillance unit in the CHD said that the provincial government should always vigilant to monitor the entry of suspected AH1N1 carriers and if found out positive should be properly managed and treated according to clinical procedures.
Carriers should also be isolated to stop the possible transfer of the disease to others.
A massive information campaign will also be conducted to prevent and avoid the spread of the dreaded AH1N1 disease.
The mitigating plan includes the putting up of command post, surveillance, health facility response, public health interventions and risk communication addressing the three-levels from a few sporadic cases of AH1N1 to community outbreak.
In the proposed plan, there will be established command post, surveillance team, ready health facilities and public health interventions and communication officers to properly address a scenario in case there will exist AH1N1 in the province.
Funds for the proposed mitigating plan will come from Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) and Local Government Unit of Quirino and some of the health interventions from some concerned agencies like the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) falling under their regular programs.
Governor Dakila Carlo E. Cua thru Provincial Health Officer Tagumpay Felismino said that the provincial officials of Quirino will be supporting and adopting the plan since one of the priority programs of the present administration is the provision health programs to Quirinians.
Provincial and municipal offices that participated in the planning workshop were from the health, veterinary, social welfare and agriculture offices and national government offices were Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police ((PNP), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
