Army chief installs BGen Gomez as new 5ID commander
Camp UPI, Gamu, Isabela (November 18) -- The 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army leadership based here received their new commanding officer few hours after a turn-over ceremony at the camp's ground.
The 5ID leadership in the camp was turned over by Philippine Army commander Lieutenant General Delfin Bangit from Major General Nestor Ochoa to Brigadier General Rommel Gomez, a Philippine Military Academy 1978 batch.
Outgoing 5ID Commanding General Major General Ochoa will be assigned in General Headquarters of Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Quezon City and will head the National Development Support Command.
Brig, General Rommel Gomez is Assistant Commanding General of the 5ID during the time of former 5ID Commanding General Melchor Dilodilo and was assigned in Cordillera region as brigade commander before he was chosen by the army leadership to head the 5ID.
Colonel Loreto Magundayao, 5ID Civil Military Operation Battalion Commander, said that Brigadier General Gomez is from 5ID serving mostly in Cordillera region.
Meanwhile, Army commander Delfin Bangit encouraged the whole force of 5ID to support the newly installed commander to maintain peace and stability in the whole area of jurisdiction of 5th Infantry Division. (PIA Isabela) [top]
