Marines recruit applicants for officer, enlisted personnel positions

Tuguegarao City (25 September) -- The Philippine Navy Marines has opened its gateway for employment to interested qualified applicants to join their troops.

Capt. Prisco T. Tabo Jr. said they are opening two positions for interested individuals, the officer and enlisted personnel.

For officer, an applicant must be baccalaureate degree holder, 21 to 30 years old, 5'4" in height for male and 5'2" for female.

For enlisted personnel, an applicant must have at least earned 72 units in college or finished skills training with certificate from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

Tabo said this is the first time for the marines to accept females to join their force considering the advocacy of the government to give also chance to females to serve in the different institutions of the government, however, Tabo refused to confirm how many female applicants will be recruited.

"We will not limit our applicants as of now because we want those interested to submit their applications, be screened, undergoes examination and series of trainings," Tabo said.

He has declined to mention their quota because applicants might be discouraged in trying to apply.

He further stated that they chose Region 2 as their target area in the said recruitment because they have noticed in their regular recruitment program in Manila that majority of their applicants are from the region.

Tabo also said that the application form is free of charge and all examinations including medical check up will be done here. Applications will be accepted until October 9, 2009 at PNP Regional Command 2 and the examination is scheduled on October 10, 2009. (Oliver B./PIA 2) [top]
