Tubod, Lanao del Norte (6 August) -- The Municipality of Balo-i celebrated its 61st founding anniversary with the theme, 'Unity, Peace and Progress in the Collective Effort of the People and Government," on August 1, 2009.
Town Mayor Hanifa Ali thanked the guests for their efforts in maintaining the peace and order in Balo-i and keeping it progressive through various developments in terms of infrastructure and agriculture.
Ali declared that the residents will exert collective effort and be in full coordination so as to achieve unity, peace and progress not just in their town but so with the entire province of Lanao del Norte.
Col. Benito Antonio De Leon, army's 104th 'Sultan" Brigade Commander, assured the residents that while it is the directive of the government for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to maintain peace and order in their respective Area of Operation, the Army is also an active advocate for unity, peace and development.
Hence, Col. De Leon called on the residents to join hands with them in maintaining the peace effort.
Former Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo is happy upon knowing that the local officials are coordinating and supporting the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Army (PA).
According to her, the province will be more progressive compared to other provinces for as long as unity and peace and order reign in the province.
"If there is no unity among us, there will be no peace and order and without it, progress is hindered," said Dimaporo.
Congressman Abdullah Dimaporo, 2nd District representative, added that indeed Balo-i is a town on its way to progress. However, its rich and vast agricultural land which promises endless possibilities is yet to be explored and developed.
He averred that progress will be continuous and the residents have also to continue to respect one another and to have unity despite the diverse culture for peace and order to be attained. (Lanao del Norte) [top]
