South Cotabato holds Botika ng Barangay training
Koronadal City (20 May) -- The PHT of South Cotabato, in partnership with Mahintana Foundation Inc. and pineapple giant Dole Philippines conducted a training on the Botika ng Barangay.
Mahintana Foundation Inc. is one of the franchisee of Health Plus, which is also a project of the DOH supported by the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and the Kreditantstalt Fuer Weider (KFW).
During the past intergovernmental negotiations, a grant of EUR, 3,067 million was allocated to further support the access of the poor to essential drugs at affordable prices and the strategy of channeling quality and affordable essential drugs to poor communities through the Health Plus Social Franchising System.
A DOH memorandum specifically mentioned that Health Plus outlets are owned by the DOH hence "it shall be responsible for the overall supervision of the project."
One good practice of BnB trainings sponsored by MFI is the observation tour of BnB operators supported by Health Plus. This is to give participants idea on how it is operated, including recording and preparation of financial statement.
These BnBs have an agreement with the Health plus distribution outlet to procure their replenishment medicines from them. In return, the Health Plus outlet provides the BnB with the medicince cabinet, record books and some improvement of the BnB. They are also regularly supervised by a pharmacist hired by MFI.
The South Cotabato BnB training team is composed of DOH representatives Redinah Poral (who is also the PHT BnB point person) and Jessie Cercado, FRDO II Lilian Mationg and PHO Health Education and promotion Officer Norma Llego. (ac agad PIA 12) [top]
