NKTI-Redcop conducts medical and surgical outreach mission in Zambosur
Pagadian City (3 February) -- The Renal Disease Control Program (REDCOP) - National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) in coordination with the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur and the Department of Health (DOH)-Center for Health Development (CHD) will conduct a two (2) day free Medical and Surgical Outreach Mission at the Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center, Provincial Government Center, Dao, Pagadian City on February 27 - 28, 2009.
Medical specialists from Manila spearheaded by NKTI Executive Director Dr. Enrique T. Ona will attend to patients who need major surgery, services and intervention like herniorrhaphy, cholecystectomy, cataract, cheilplasty, thyroid operation among others.
The medical experts will also conduct consultations and check up and attend to the needs of elderly patients, children and pregnant women during the mission. Minor operations will also be conducted if needed.
Dr. Atilano Jesus Ocampos, Chief of Hospital, ZDS Medical Center, said, because of limited time (two days only) the medical mission will give priority to major and uncommon diseases. Common and minor check up will be attended to by our local medical practitioners at the medical center.
According to Dr. Ocampos, the Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center, Outpatient Department is now accepting pre-medical check up and screening to all patients who wish to avail the services of the medical and surgical outreach mission. The screening of patients is scheduled from February 2-6, 2009 only.
Patients from the municipalities are encouraged to register at their respective Rural Health Units. Only 2-3 patients with major complaints shall be accommodated per municipality within the province of Zamboanga del Sur. (PIA9-Pagadian City) [top]
