RDC tackles social dev't issues for Region 8
Tacloban City (July 31) -- The Regional Development Council (RDC) Social Development Committee is scheduled to meet in the afternoon of July 31, 2008, at the RDC Conference Room at NEDA Regional Office 8 at the Government Center, in order to tackle social issues bugging the Region.
Among the issues which will be discussed is the issue on regulating the practice of traditional birth attendants or the hilots, as contained in the DOH submitted resolution to local Sanggunians in support of the DOH score cards.
The matter was taken up in the latest RDC meeting but was referred back to the Committee for further discussion.
There are other resolutions which were referred back to the Committee, one of which is the request to the DILG Secretary to enjoin Local Government Units through a national policy to give full support to local constituents seeking employment abroad as contained in the RDC resolution.
Another resolution is the request to the HUDCC and Pag-ibig Board of Trustees Chair Noli de Castro to sponsor the retroactive lowering of interest rates of Pag-ibig housing loans.
The SDC Secretariat informed that among the other issues which will be tackled is the enhancement activity for SDC members, particularly the proposed joint SDC teambuilding and 4th quarter meeting at the Montebello Hotel in Cebu City.
The Search for the Best RDC/SecCom Members' Website for 2008, will also be discussed as the monitoring has started on July 1 and will end on October 31, 2008.
Last but not the least, the Committee will discuss the Search for the Best Mentor in Health Research. (PIA 8) [top]
