SAN QUINTIN, Abra (1 June) -- Unopposed re-electionist Mayor Amador B. Diaz of this municipality is spurring up social development by promoting the hunger mitigation program of the national government.
Last week, the summer supplemental feeding program was launched at the municipal hall. The program will run for 42 days from Monday to Friday starting Wednesday, May 30.
Maritess R. Esmilla, municipal social welfare officer, disclosed that, Diaz was all out to support all the programs and projects of the social welfare department of the local government unit.
While the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD-CAR) had allocated some P126,588 for the said project, Diaz had put up the LGU counterpart in order to accommodate all the 137 daycare pupils in all the 6 day care centers in the municipality.
In her speech, Director Porfiria M. Bernardez expressed her appreciation to the very positive outlook and very cooperative attitude of Mayor Diaz in the implementation of national government programs that are beneficial to the basic sectors.
It can be recalled that San Quintin is the first LGU that expressed its all-out support and decisive action to spell out its commitment particularly in the setting up of budgetary allocations for their counterpart in the Kapit-bisig Laban sa kaHirapan – Comprehensive Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS). Because of this, the implementation of their KALAHI projects has gone a long way ahead of the other municipalities that have the same program.
Relative to this, Bernardez committed to continue supporting San Quintin in any of its programs and projects where DSWD assistance is needed and capable of extending support because of its exceptional performance in good governance.
