TESDA, PIA finalize tech-voc scholarship to empower Region 8 media

Tacloban City (December 8) -- The Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Regional Office 8 and the Philippine Information Agency met yesterday to make final arrangements for the free training of the Region 8 Media.

Director Juan Sabulao, Jr. through Mr. Eliseo Padagdag met with Director Olive Tiu to determine the training needs of the Region 8 media practitioners. Through these trainings, it is hoped that the media practitioners will be able to develop or enhance the skills needed in the practice of their profession.

It would be recalled that TESDA Director General, Secretary Augusto Syjuco during his visit to Tacloban to advocate the Ladderized Education Program of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, instructed Director Sabulao to facilitate the fulfillment of his promise to Director Tiu and the media of Region 8 to give free trainings.

Mr. Padagdag and Director Tiu identified the courses which are needed by the media in Region 8. Mr. Padagdag said that these courses may be taken up at the TESDA training center or in any identified accredited training schools.

Among the courses identified for the print media are Publisher/Pagemaker, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Photoshop and Internet Access/Teleconferencing. Mr. Padagdag said that these courses will be taken up at the TESDA Training Center or at AMA Computer Learning Center.

For the broadcast media practitioners, the Finishing Course for Call Center Agents will be made available so that they will be able to enhance their communication skills. This course is available at AMA, STI Ormoc and YES ACE.

For Television, Mr. Padagday recommends the taking up of Networking and Video Editing.

Mr. Padagdag and Director Tiu agreed to meet with the interested media on December 11, at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon at the Philippine Information Agency Regional Office 8.

Director Tiu is calling for the interested media practitioners to contact the PIA Regional Office at telephone number 321-2029 for more information regarding this TESDA Scholarship for Media Practitioners. (PIA 8) [top]
